Nur’s Specialty Areas

My specialities are working with deeply rooted fear, shame, and self-esteem issues which generate anxiety, depression, issues with intimacy, and self-imposed limitations. I work through a trauma-informed lens which acknowledges the ways in which past & present trauma affect other aspects of a client's challenges. Anxiety, ADHD, Autism, Sensory issues, neurodivergence in general and their relation to trauma is another focus of mine. In addition to this, I utilize relational models which help clients with issues dealing with family of origin, relationships in general, disconnection/belonging, cultural differences, identity, and relationship to one's self.

Nur’s Therapy Approaches

I am an Expressive Arts Therapist and use a holistic and person-centered approach while guiding you in the process of using artmaking (visual art, dance, music, movement, poetry, storytelling, drama, environmental art, creative writing, cooking, chemistry, clay, photography, etc.) to deepen your relationship with yourself, your strengths, challenges, and needs. I incorporate psychodynamic, humanistic, cognitive, behavioral, relational, somatic, and multicultural perspectives to help you meet your goals. Through the process of artmaking, I help you develop an intentional relationship with your own healing process and guide you in being self-empowered.

I offer in-office, virtual, and outdoor/nature sessions, 50 minutes or 80 minutes.

Nur’s Training & Experience

I have Master's level training in Expressive Arts Therapy & Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lesley University (Cambridge, MA). My recent training emphasizes the process over the product when seeking real change, honoring the journey from point A to point B (with everything that has already led you to the place you are at when you come to therapy), and externalizing your process through art-making across different media (visual, dance/movement, music/sound, drama, poetry, storytelling, etc.). I have other trainings in Psychodrama, Body Psychotherapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I have been a case manager, a BA level counselor, and worked as a customer service representative in community mental health. Before my professional involvement in the field of mental health, I was a preschool teacher specializing in social-emotional learning, reggio emilia, and montessori techniques. My work as a therapist is rooted in the experience of being raised by a refugee and immigrant to America. I am currently working toward full licensure under supervision.
